Cytisus scoparius (syn. Sarothamnus scoparius), commonly called scotch broom or common broom, is a deciduous shrub from western and central Europe. This plant has been used to treat several ailments as folk medicines for its diuretic, anti-diabetic and sedative properties. Several experimental studies verified its pharmacological activities related to these active ingredients.
