Quillaja Extract-NS is extracted from the inner bark of Quillaja saponaria. It is commonly called soapbark or soapbark tree native to South America including Bolivia, Peru and Chile. The bark of Quillaja can be employed as a substitute for soap due to its high content of saponins and the properties of foaming and cleansing. This plant has a long history of use with the Andean people who used the bark as a soap or shampoo.
It is a source of quillaia, the extract of which is used as a food additive and as an ingredient in pharmaceuticals and personal care products. GNS’s tests show that the bark of Quillaja saponaria has excellent foaming and cleansing properties. And it suggests the possibility as a natural ingredient for soap or shampoo.
